Overview
Elastic is manufactured by combining strands of natural or synthetic rubber with strands of yarn. In the case of elastic shock cords, a number of rubber strands are encased in a braided cover of one or more layers of yarn.

The methods used to produce flat elastic are weaving, braiding, or knitting, though the properties of each method may overlap. For example, most material constructed by the braiding procedure is lighter than that produced by weaving, however, either very heavy braids or very light wovens can be produced by HNW.
